Cheryl Miller Thurston

Cheryl Miller Thurston is a writer, editor, and musician who lives in Loveland, CO, with her husband and two pampered cats. She is the founder of Cottonwood Press, Inc., a company that for more than 20 years published innovative materials for teachers, grades 5–12, to use in the language arts classroom. (In late 2010, Cottonwood Press was sold to Prufrock Press.) Before that, she was an English teacher for 13 years, grades 7 through university level.

Thurston received the Pacific Northwest Writers’ Conference Children’s Play Award for her play A Change of Heart and was a Colorado Book Award finalist for her book of poetry, Hide Your Ex-Lax Under the Wheaties. She writes the material for and directs the musical comedy performing group Moonlighting Teachers, which has performed for state, regional, and national educational conferences for more than 12 years.
