Salvatore Mendaglio, Ph.D.

Sal Mendaglio is associate professor in the Division of Teacher Preparation and the Graduate Division of Educational Research, and research associate in the Centre for Gifted Education at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Prior to his current involvement in teacher education, Mendaglio taught counseling psychology in a graduate program for more than 20 years at the same institution. His primary interests are related to counseling gifted individuals of all ages. Current projects include gifted individuals’ perceptions of counseling, influence of congregated settings on self-concept of gifted students, and Dabrowski’s theory of positive disintegration. Mendaglio is a licensed psychologist with 30 years experience of counseling gifted individuals. He is chair of the Counseling and Guidance Division, National Association for Gifted Children.
