Sharon M. Kaye, Ph.D.

Sharon Kaye is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1992. After receiving her Ph.D. in 1997 from the University of Toronto, she was a Killam postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Since then, she has published numerous articles as well as books including: An Introduction to Eastern and Western Philosophy for Kids (2020), Philosophy for Teens Volumes I and II with Paul Thomson (2006, 2007), Medieval Philosophy (2008), Black Market Truth (2008), Critical Thinking (2009), The Onion and Philosophy (2010), The Ultimate Lost and Philosophy (2011), What Philosophy Can Tell You about Your Lover (2012), and A Complete Introduction to Philosophy (2014). Her works have been translated into Japanese, Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, and Slovak. She is currently writing the K–12 philosophy curriculum for Royal Fireworks Press. She also directs a Philosophy for Kids program that enables undergraduates to lead philosophy discussions for gifted middle school students. She has two children, two dogs, a cat, a gecko, and a fish.
