George T. Betts, Ed.D.

Dr. George Betts, currently President of the National Association for Gifted Children, is Professor Emeritus at the University of Northern Colorado. He is the founder and former director of the Center for the Education and Study of the Gifted, Talented, and Creative, as well as the founder and former director of the Summer Enrichment Program (SEP). Dr. Betts is an internationally acclaimed speaker and consultant who specializes in assisting schools, districts, states, and national organizations in implementing and refining programs for gifted and talented learners. He developed the Autonomous Learner Model (ALM) for the education and facilitation of lifelong learners. The emphasis of the ALM is to enhance the emotional, social, cognitive and physical development of learners through self-directed, lifelong learning.
