Susan Rakow, Ph.D.

Susan Rakow, Ph.D., LPC, is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in work with gifted children/teens and families at the Family Achievement Clinic directed by Dr. Sylvia Rimm. Susan also works as a counselor at Menlo Park Academy, a K–8 school for gifted children in Cleveland, OH. She retired from Cleveland State University after 10 years as Clinical Associate Professor in Curriculum and Gifted Education where she taught middle/secondary methods and gifted courses. She also directed the graduate program in gifted education there. Prior to her work at the university, she was a middle and high school English and gifted teacher for 30 years. She earned her doctorate at Kent State University in middle school and gifted education. Susan presents, consults, and writes about gifted children and adolescents and how to serve their broad range of needs. She and her husband raised two gifted children and now enjoy time with their four marvelous grandchildren.
