Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented

The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) is a nonprofit, membership association of educators, parents, and friends of the gifted. The TAGT mission is to promote awareness of the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students and to impact the development of appropriate educational services to meet these needs. Membership includes administrators, educators, parents, business professionals, and students. For 28 years, TAGT has been the principal advocate for Texas gifted youth and is the nation’s largest state advocacy group. The organization provides scholarships to students, individuals, and educators—having awarded nearly $40,000 to applicants in 2004 alone. TAGT has published six books that are outstanding resources for educators and parents of gifted students and offers professional development training to teachers and administrators responsible for their programs and services.
