Using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model With Technology is an extension of a talent development model implemented in more than 2,500 schools across the U.S. and widely used internationally. More than 40 years of research and development have documented the effectiveness of the SEM approach to promoting higher level thinking skills and creative productivity.

This solution-oriented book, unlike other books focused on using technology in the classroom, recognizes that digital technologies are changing and evolving at lightning speeds. Our effective skills for using technology transcend time by focusing on how to find and use digital resources and tools rather than listing the resources that already exist. Focusing on the skills that support critical thinking and problem solving, decision making, and communication, the authors seamlessly merge technology to launch students toward independent productivity. This accessible and highly practical guide is rich with examples that will change the way you think about education while providing hands-on “how-to” guidance for creating a culture of excellence and innovation in your school and classroom.

Using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model With Technology
An easy to use resource to integrate technology for authentic uses in all areas of the curriculum! This book seamlessly integrates technology into the Schoolwide Enrichment Model to provide authentic uses of technology in classrooms in each level of enrichment. Any classroom teacher can easily see how to integrate curriculum into their classrooms and provide advanced uses of technology for highly capable learners. The “Did You Know” boxes adds relevant eye-opening research to help you think about the focus of technology in each chapter. “Christy’s Corner” takes you on a journey into a classroom to see how the information in each chapter is applied. Although the authors provided reviews of many, varied web sites and apps to use in the classroom, they focus on how to find these tools as technology continues to evolve and change. They also provide templates of documents used and referenced throughout this book. Educators will be able to use technology for students to be creative producers

Using the Schoolwide Enrichment Model with Technology
This is a wonderful resource that includes background information as well as the hands on practical classroom applications. The book is written from a Schoolwide Enrichment Model perspective providing activities and information related to each type of enrichment (and the various types of enrichment. The applications are very relevant for a wide variety of classrooms. The inclusion of "Christy's Corner" is a strength to see how the principles and ideas are applied in a classroom setting. One of the most beneficial items in the book is the "Taxonomy of of Type II Process for the Digital Age." This delineates the process and skills for consuming information technology and productivity using technology. In a classroom this is very helpful to see the skills and be able to plan activities based on these skills. I highly recommend this resource to all gifted specialists, coordinators, teachers, and administrators!

Along with addressing the need for attention to digital technology, this book focuses on strategies that help develop critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and communication - all skills that students need to experience success and fulfillment in life. For teachers who desire to expand the use of technology in the classroom as well as allow for independent productivity from students, this is a resource to explore.

The use of technology outlined here incorporates skills and processes, analysis, presentation, and critical and creative thinking in a way I have not seen in “how to teach with technology” books . . . [T]he content is absolutely solid. I would recommend this book for every teacher . . .

I appreciate the multi-faceted look at technology in the classroom—we must think about how we’re using technology, not just if we’re using it. This book pushes the use of websites, apps, and devices beyond mere “electronic worksheets” into enriching experiences and provides some great scaffolds to get you there.
