As an elementary educator for over 30 years, with many years specifically focused on science curriculum, I can appreciate a resource that is well-planned! “Thinking Like an Engineer” is exactly that. Each lesson is perfectly planned to give the teacher all the information needed for lesson planning, and moreover, implementation in the classroom. From a Resources & Materials list to Assessment Observations, this guide provides it all. Each unit is based around problem solving and student engagement—NextGen science!
The 4th Grade “Engineer” Book appears geared for Gifted/Talented learners, but it could definitely be used in the regular classroom to develop higher level thinking skills. I noticed other titles in the “Thinking Like....” series that could possibly be used across grade levels.
