The book is inclusive in nature, addressing varied approaches to each topic while relying on no single theory or construct. The book includes chapters that focus on critical topics such as gifted education standards, social-emotional needs, cognitive development, diverse learners, identification, programming options, creativity, professional development, and curriculum. The book provides a comprehensive look at each topic, including an overview of big ideas, its history, and a thorough discussion to help those new to the field gain a better understanding of gifted students and strategies to address their needs. A rich companion piece supports the text, providing practical strategies and activities for the instructor (designed for both online classes and face-to-face classes).

Wonderful!
This is exactly what our students needed. The chapters flow logically and clearly spell out how all of the various theories and elements of gifted education come together in our world. The authors have obviously thought about the way adult learners need to receive information and have organized the text around the metaphor of building a home. I find that my graduate students are able to spend time discussing the implications and adjustments to their practice more than trying to just put all the random pieces of information together.
Well organized and arranged with an eye to the needs of the audience, this text helps elevate our education students from the world of information gathering and into the realm of creative problem solving for their own pk-12 students.
