Presented through an easy-to-follow six-step strategy, teachers will utilize the six P’s—passion, plan, pitch, project, product, and presentation—as a map for students to follow as they create, design, and carry out projects. Students will experience personalized learning through these self-driven projects, application of standards and real-world skills, and opportunities to learn through failure and reflection. The book includes handouts, suggested online resources, and tips and tricks to make the Genius Hour process meaningful for students and manageable for educators, as well as a discussion of Genius Hour’s importance and impact on gifted students as they take ownership of their own learning.

Genius Hour: Passion Projects that Ignite Innovation and Student Inquiry
As an elementary school principal, I was looking for something that would help teachers push our gifted learners to the next level. I found it in Genius Hour. I am looking forward to sharing this book with my staff and I know they will appreciate the practical step by step implementation guide as well as all the resources provided within the book. Helping student identify their passion, and then seeing it come to life in a meaningful way, will truly help build lifelong learners who know they can make a difference. As educators, we spend a lot of time on our struggling learners and closing gaps, but our gifted students need just as much time and attention. Teachers can use this book as a guide to quickly get Genius Hour up and running in their classroom.

As a classroom teacher with very little extra time, this book is an easy read with detailed instructions on implementing "Genius Hour" into any self-contained or departmentalized classroom. It also serves as a great tool to refer back to when needed. It's the perfect mini-workshop for busy teachers.

Genius Hour: Passion Projects that Ignite Innovation and Student Inquiry
As an Instructional Specialist on a middle school campus, Genius Hour, would be great to incorporate for any extended learning opportunities. The book itself is easy to read with lots of ideas, tools, and suggestions for how to implement Genius Hour in a school. Personally, I really liked the Reflection Questions at the end of each chapter. They help guide you through your thinking of how Genius Hour could come to life in your classroom.

Genius Hour
This book is a wonderful way to guide teachers to take project based teaching/learning to a whole new level! I already teach PBL, but I’ve now learned new ways to add professional mentors and to break out of my comfort zone to “share out” what my students are creating. The author demonstrates how passion projects help teachers guide students to become successful participants in our future workforce.

This book is a fun, easy to read guidebook to help teachers ignited the passion of Genius Hour in their own classroom. Andi provides clear, simple instructions on the 6 P’s of Genius Hour that will encourage teachers who may be new to the concept of innovation. The graphics are pleasing to the eye, and example handouts will assist time-strapped teachers in planning and preparation. Teachers will notice more excitement in the classroom when students are allowed to study about things they are passionate about!

The book takes what could be a very open-ended process and provides an organizational framework so teachers and students can make the time productive . . . A very practical and good reference as teachers work to optimize the process in their individual classrooms.

Andi McNair’s Genius Hour is a great resource for those who want to release potential in students but do not know how or where to start. The processes and tools provided are a great foundation for students (and their teachers) to use as they pursue projects they are passionate about . . . . Whether the reader is a novice or veteran, I feel that everyone will gain something of value from reading Genius Hour.

This book is a fantastic guide for teachers to implement student-directed passion projects in the classroom . . .. Although aimed at educators, this book can also be useful for parents. It includes great tips on how to discover and encourage the passions of children. This is certainly valuable information for parents. It also provides a clear and concise understanding of what the goals of education should be in our modern age. It definitely challenges the norm, but in an inspiring and energizing way.
