Can your brain learn to ride a backward bicycle? (Yes, but once you do, it's hard to go back to riding the "regular" way.) What happens to a helium balloon in a car when you accelerate? (It doesn't go the way you think it would.) Why do cats always land on their feet? (Hint: Physics is involved.) Is there really a "science" to snapping spaghetti? (There is, but that doesn't mean it tastes differently!)

Your kids will be astounded with the cool, entertaining science videos created by Destin Sandlin, an engineer, father, and founder of the educational video series Smarter Every Day. (Seriously, just start watching these with your kids or students--you'll be roped in so quickly as you learn more and more about everyday science facts we often take for granted!) These short, fascinating videos often feature Sandlin's children helping him out on the various tasks, while others include interviews with professionals, like this one about the International Space Station. You can access an "in order" playlist of the videos here.

It's an excellent way to keep your child's interest in science topics going over the summer months, plus, it might just inspire some at-home science of your own!
