I thought this book was a great resource! It easily lays how all the steps of how to put this simulation into motion and it provides many great aids to help with the process. The layout of the book is nice as well with easy to use worksheets, etc, that the students understand. Overall my students liked doing the simulation and some said they understood voting a little better and would try to vote when they were older! The only critique they had is the two parties to use for the simulation are already named in the book and they think its their party so why cant they name it themselves (which I did let them rename the parties.) so thats the only thing they thought should be different in the simulation, the students should name their parties, but other than that they liked everything else.
My critique would be that there should be a book made like this for the high school level. Yes, it is great that we can get 4-8 grades interested in voting and wanting to vote but they cant actually go out and do it. Yes, you can adapt this for high school but it would be great to see a version of this simulation for them as well. The only other thing that surprised with this book was how short it was. I thought it would be thicker but it was only 50 pages.
I do want to say that I also love the cover of this book. Overall I really liked this book as well! It is a great and fun simulation to have students do. I would highly recommend this book!
