Prufrock Press Acquires Creative Learning Press

March 4, 2013—Prufrock Press today announced the acquisition of educational publisher Creative Learning Press (Mansfield Center, CT). Committed to developing quality resources for educators and parents of gifted and talented children, Creative Learning Press (CLP) has been a respected independent publishing house for more than 35 years.

“The team at CLP built an exciting company focused on supporting schools across the country who effectively serve gifted students,” explained Prufrock Press’ publisher, Joel McIntosh.

CLP’s most successful product is the Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students. This instrument is used by schools to help identify gifted and talented students. It is designed to be a dynamic part of a comprehensive identification system. Also, CLP is the leading voice in supporting the Schoolwide Enrichment Model, an innovative and research-based framework for schools. It is widely implemented as an enrichment program used with academically gifted and talented students and a magnet theme/enrichment approach for all schools interested in high-end learning and developing the strengths and talents of all students.

CLP’s founder, Dr. Joseph Renzulli, explained, “I founded CLP with a strong belief that quality gifted education programs help all students. Intuitively, we know that ‘the rising tide lifts all the ships.’ By demonstrating high expectations and nurturing a learning climate where challenge and engagement are valued, teachers can improve the learning experience of all pupils. CLP was created to offer resources that support that belief. We know Prufrock Press shares this belief. It is a wonderful company that many of our customers already know and love. We are excited that our products now have a home with Prufrock. ”

McIntosh agreed, “For years, I’ve held CLP’s great line of research-based educational products in high regard. I was thrilled by the opportunity to bring CLP’s products under our umbrella. This is a great partnership that will benefit the customers of both companies.”
