Measurement and Polygon
Teaching kids to think - that is what this book is able to do for your kids.  Common Core content seems to be all anyone ever talks about anymore, however the practice to help the kids understand what they are supposed to understand isn’t quite as clear and organized as the standards themselves.  I suppose that is because all teachers have a variety of strengths and the kids as well.  It is sort of like we have a beautiful house in the common core, but we are missing a clear foundation.  Jerry Burkhart’s book “Advanced Common Core Math Explorations Measurement and Polygons” is a book that sets the foundation for us as we construct the foundation of thinking the kids need to have for the complete understanding of the common core.  Jerry goes WAY beyond knowing the procedures of a skill which, of course, is completely opposite of what we used to do.  Jerry opens up the joyful “why does this work” curiosity in the students with his lessons.  For example,  in Exploration 7 titled “Ladders
