Glad I Have This!
This resource is extremely helpful for both the experienced and inexperienced teacher who would like to incorporate performance based learning projects in their classroom.  As a gifted intervention specialist, I co-teach in several language arts classes with regular education teachers.  The format of Stanley’s work and the components of the projects he has included, has allowed both myself and teachers with whom I work to feel comfortable and confident to try performance based projects.  I have been able to extend our novel studies to include projects with the support of examples, timelines, handouts, rubrics and other helps Mr. Stanley has developed and shared.  I especially liked using Project 4 in conjunction with our novel study The Westing Game and look forward to incorporating more projects later this year and next.  Thank you Mr. Stanley!

Great for any classroom
Here are 10 of the most popular projects to use in upper elementary language arts classrooms complete with mini-lessons, timelines, and a rubric for each. If your students love projects as much as mine, this book will streamline your planning! The lesson plans are concise, and the students handouts are written in "kid-friendly" language. The rubrics are organized around grades rather than the traditional 4-3-2-1 style, and each has several criteria at the grade point. This book can be used as is or as a springboard for your own projects!

I was pleased with the project choices, the fluidity of the tasks in each selection that made the material relevant to most any grade/topic, and the easy-to-follow format that allowed me to incorporate the performance based tasks immediately. I will definitely be utilizing Todd Stanley’s text again in my classroom.
