Cindy West, a 14-year veteran of homeschooling, is mom to three precious, active, and bright children—Mahayla, Caleb, and Eli. Together with her husband, Steve, they live on a cattle farm in Central Kentucky where life is always busy (and mostly fun), with one adventure after another.
Cindy is author of the popular NaturExplorers unit studies and other creative curricula that are published by Shining Dawn Books, LLC. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Eastern Kentucky University and a master's degree in education from Georgetown College. She taught kindergarten through fourth grade in the public school system before coming home to school her own children.
Cindy regularly teaches workshops to homeschooling parents on a variety of topics, most focusing on homeschooling with joy, passion, and creativity. She frequently uses her teaching talents with children, too. From logic and critical thinking to art and nature study, her classes for kids and teens are full of fun and learning. Her personal teaching style is eclectically Charlotte Mason, with a dash of unit studies and the classical approach thrown in for good measure. She believes that, no matter the teaching style, children should be inspired in their learning.
