Review by: Joanne Cecere, School Library Journal - July 7, 2009
The book, which is accompanied by a CD containing all of the photos and text, concludes with five pages of suggestions by teachers as to how one can use the volume to inspire writing. A terrific resource for ELA and creative-writing teachers.

Wonderful Teaching Aid
As a homeschooling mom, I was delighted to discover this book which combines photos, keywords and quotations on every page, and goes even further to suggest appropriate writing assignments based on these clever combinations. It does so much of the work for me! And my teenagers really enjoy their writing tasks, always able to find inspiration for their compositions.

WRITE WHAT YOU SEE
WRITE WHAT YOU SEE really does a great job when it comes to inspiring writers. Although the book is geared toward students, I used it with my writers' group with much success. Everyone in the group agreed that, together with inspirational quotations and other writing prompts, the photos helped to generate a multitude of ideas for writing both prose and poetry. I'd love to see another edition that uses color photos as well as black and white photos.

Write What You See: 99 Photos to Inspire Writing
I just received my copy of Write What You See, and I'm thrilled with it. It's everything it promised to be. These beautiful photos, accompanied by quotes, prompts and writing tips, are a bonanza of inspiration. If this book doesn't get your thoughts rolling and the writing flowing, nothing will! I can't wait to get started.
