Wonderful resource for teachers and parents
School Success for Kids with Dyslexia and Other Reading Difficulties provides an overview of how children learn to read, the reading process, reading disorders, and some strategies to assist these students both at home and in the classroom. While the book can be very technical and does include some jargon, each concept is explained thoroughly. As such, this book would be best suited for either a teacher or parent that had some background knowledge in reading or wanted to develop a more in-depth understanding of the reading process. The reading process is laid out including how words are constructed, the basic processes needed for reading such as phoneme blending, and how the sounds are actually made. Strategies for students are presented and could be utilized at home or in the classroom. Example forms are provided in the book. This would be a wonderful resource for teachers and parents wanting a deeper understanding of reading disorders in children.
