A Must Have!
As a 3/4/5 Multiage Teacher, I found this book (along with others in the series) to be a key resource in organizing the learning within my classroom. Westphal’s menu books have assisted me with meeting diverse academic ranges and infusing content standards. Project Based Learning has allowed for students within my classroom to pursue their interests and choose projects that match their personal learning styles. The variety of menus within these books allow for all learners to find an entry point with a concept. Small rubrics are also included which provide students simple descriptions of each project, increase their independence as learners, and allow for self-assessment to be a natural part of the learning process. These menus can be used to supplement curriculum, introduce or review concepts, or formatively assess student learning. I highly recommend these books to other teachers who strive to meet individual needs and personalize instruction for all students.
